Among my wandering flock I hold so dear,
Midst lowly ones some feel have little worth.

Though I am Israel’s God and King, I sleep
Here, in a straw-filled manger, where I’m pleased to hear
Each heartfelt hymn and bleating prayer of calf and sheep.

Lo, this new star the joyful tidings tell
In sure fulfillment of the words of Samuel, *
God’s servant, at whom shafts were sped and stones were hurled, **
How this night come I, newly born, into the world.
The promised Savior, the Anointed One.

Our Father sends me, His Beloved Son,
For in me shall my Father’s will be done.

To rescue you from death, from sin make pure,
Here I am come the truth to teach, the path to show –
Enter the fold. I am the way. In me endure.

When tempests rage, I’ll help you to be strong.
On me, your rock and sure foundation, stand and grow. ***
Rest, rest in me. Let joyous melody and song
Lighten your load. Let faith in God’s design
Delight and heal your soul with peace divine.
